ExoML
Launched ExoML as Exotel's programmable voice infrastructure layer for AI-powered communications, influencing ₹2 Cr+ in pipeline and expanding the platform beyond CPaaS.

ExoML: Launching Exotel's Programmable Voice Infrastructure Platform
Overview
As Voice AI adoption accelerated across enterprises, developers increasingly required deeper control over telephony infrastructure to build sophisticated communication workflows. Traditional CPaaS platforms abstracted away much of the underlying telephony stack, making it difficult to support advanced use cases such as AI voice agents, agent handoffs, CRM dialers, conference bridges, real-time media streaming, and event-driven call orchestration.
Recognizing this shift, Exotel launched ExoML, a programmable voice platform that gives developers granular control over call flows, media streams, bridges, and real-time events.
As the Product Marketing lead, I was responsible for defining the market narrative, positioning, developer go-to-market strategy, sales enablement, and launch execution.
The Challenge
The programmable communications market was evolving rapidly, driven by the rise of Voice AI and real-time customer engagement applications.
While developers wanted greater flexibility to orchestrate voice experiences, most existing solutions either lacked advanced telephony capabilities or required significant engineering effort to build and maintain.
The challenge was to position ExoML not as another voice API product, but as the foundational infrastructure layer that enables enterprises and developers to build next-generation voice applications powered by AI.
My Approach
Market Research & Customer Discovery
Conducted extensive research across developers, solution architects, Voice AI providers, enterprise customers, and ecosystem partners.
Key areas of analysis included:
- Programmable voice providers such as Twilio, Plivo, SignalWire, and emerging Voice AI infrastructure platforms.
- Developer requirements for call orchestration and media control.
- Enterprise adoption patterns around AI-powered communications.
- Emerging use cases across collections, sales automation, customer support, AI voice agents, and CRM-integrated dialers.
The research revealed a growing demand for real-time voice orchestration capabilities that sat between traditional telephony infrastructure and modern AI applications.
Positioning & Messaging Strategy
